Two Sisters Gluten Free Bakery is no longer in business. You can find our recipes on the website. Thank you for your support.
We were a homeschooling family trying to learn about business while doing something we love -- baking! Unfortunately it was not cost effective. While we didn't lose any money (we broke even on our costs), we did work between 360 and 400 hours over the summer without earning any money at all. Gluten free ingredients are just too expensive, and our product doesn't hold over until the next market the way it would if we were making something like jams or soaps.

Hi, I'm Catherine, but you can call me Cat. I'm the oldest in the family, and my sister is my best friend. I helped design the website. I love reading, writing, and drawing, and I want to publish a book someday. If I have to go a day without writing, I feel like I will die! I'm a Texan by birth, an Alaskan by heart, and a Kansan currently.
I love eating chocolate chip cookies (or anything chocolate). Mmmm chocolate. Chocolate is healthy, right? I love the taste and the smell. Especially when they've just come out of the oven and are gooey and warm.
I have to eat gluten free because I'm allergic to gluten. I love my Mom's gluten-free foods because they taste as good as (and usually better than) the real stuff! My friends have tried my Mom's gluten-free foods and they love them. Sometimes we don't tell them they're gluten free until they ask where we got them. I get a kick out of saying, "Oh, we baked them!"
Sami Bradford |
I'm the younger sister, Samantha. Call me Sami, though, because Samantha is too formal! Don't tell my sister, but I usually forget I'm younger than her. Sometimes she can be really annoying, but I still love her! I love to decorate the things I bake, but the cleaning-up part isn't so fun. Well, it has to be done, and sometimes my sister helps out.
I love animals and I love to draw. Especially dragons! They're fascinating, and I learned how to draw them while I was listening to Eragon on my playaway. Recently I was chosen to paint the display on the windows at our library. That was a blast! I painted a really cool dragon on top of a bunch of books with the slogan: "Devour books!"
I'm the only one in my family who doesn't have a gluten allergy, so I always give Mom my honest opinion on the food she bakes. There have been some misses along the way, but she's a really good cook, and her goodies just keep getting better and better.
Joy Bradford (and Rex) |
I'm a homeschooling Mom to two lovely young ladies, and I love to bake. Working on the bakery was part of school and the girls helped decide what kind of family business we should start. Along the way, we learned things like business, math, marketing, time management, and of course a good work ethic. My husband Doug and I used to own a pizza restaurant, before being diagnosed with our gluten allergy.
When three out of four of us were diagnosed with a Gluten allergy six years ago, there wasn't much good gluten-free food on the market. We started baking everything ourselves, and whenever we went somewhere I brought our own food. Well, our food looked so good that everyone around us wanted to try it, so we started baking extra. When people started asking me to bring my cookies to various events, I figured it was time to sell them.
Give her the fruit of her hands,
And let her own works praise her in the gates.
~Proverbs 31:31
